House回帰元年(!?)のトリを飾るにふさわしい異端児、DJ Hausが遂に単独初来日！

2015年のクラブミュージックシーンのキーワードは実は全方位的にHouseだったといえるのではないだろうか。ヨーロッパではDeep House回帰が叫ばれ、アメリカでもMister Saturday Nightなどの新興レーベルは更に勢いを増し、L.I.E.S.やFuture Times、Lobster Theremin、The Trilogy Tapesなどオルタナティブ／エクスペリメンタルなハウスを打ち出すレーベルのリリースは早耳のリスナーたちを釘付けにしている。またEDMシーンにおいてもこれまでにないほど、Houseに注目が集まったのも今年の大きなトピックだったといえるだろう。更にいえば、BeatsシーンのアーティストにもHouseの流れが広まっていったり、枚挙に暇がないほどダンスミュージックが全方位的にHouseに回帰していった2015年のHOUSE OF LIQUIDのトリを飾るのはUKのHouseシーンの異端児DJ Hausである。

元々はHot Cityというデュオでカットアップディスコサウンドや2 Stepの流れを汲んだ洗練されたサウンドで知られていたが、2012年にDJ Hausに改名し自身のレーベルUnknown to the Unknown(UTTU)を設立。一気に初期House的なラフ&ワイルドなサウンドを打ち出していくこととなる。その後も新たにもう１つ自身のレーベルHot Haus Recを立ち上げ数々のアーティストを急ピッチでリリースしていっている。その2つのレーベルからは前述のUSのL.I.E.S.からもリリースを行う、Willie BurnsやFuture Times主宰のMAX D、オーストラリアの鬼才でDro Carey名義でもユニークなエレクトロニックミュージックのリリースを続けるTuff Shermなど一癖も二癖もあるアーティストがリリースを行っている。またMumdanceやSlackkという最先端のGrimeプロデューサーやUK Garageの人気プロデューサーDJ QがHausとのユニット、Trumpet & Badman名義でリリースするなど、Houseというジャンルを越えて面白いアーティストをピックアップし続けているのもHausを知る上で欠かせないポイントだろう。一方自身ではUKの名門Rinse、オランダのアンダーグラウンドシーンを担うCloneなどからChicago House直系のファンキーで初期衝動的なグルーヴをUKのベースミュージックでコーティングしたような唯一無二のトラックを連発している。そんなUKが生んだ異端児がロングランパーティーHOUSE OF LIQUIDに新風を吹かすと共に現在のHouseの持つ多様性とシンプルな快感を呼び覚ましてくれるだろう。

そして共演は日本のHouseシーンの先駆者であり今年リリースされたRush Hourからのアルバムによって世界的な再評価を巻き起こしているSoichi Terada House Set、今年自身のレーベルからアルバム「Upright」をリリースし、懐の深いファンキーなプレイでオーディエンスを常に歓喜させるDJ TASAKA、そのハードコアなパーティー経験を持ち計算不能なプレイで常に驚きをもたらしてくれる若手Gonbuto、そして長きに渡りこのパーティーのレジデントをつとめるMr. HOUSE OF LIQUID、MOODMANが登場する。またTシャツや靴下のリリースからC.EのパーティーなどでのVJを行うクルーBaconのメンバーでDJとしても活動するPooteeと、アーティストグループ20TN!を主宰し映像、グラフィック、音楽など様々なメディアで活動を行う浮舌大輔というVJとしてもオルタナティブな表現を追求する２人がメインフロアを彩る。来たる2016年は更にHouseがダンスフロアの真ん中に躍り出てくるだろう、その前に今のHouseが持つ圧倒的な勢いを年の終わりのHOUSE OF LIQUIDで早めに体感しておくのは全ダンスミュージックファンにとって正しい行いであるに違いない。（和田哲郎)

DJ Haus, the maverick of house music is making his first solo appearance in Japan!

There is no doubt that “House” was the keyword in the world of club music in 2015. In Europe, the return to deep house was exclaimed by many. In the US, new generation house labels like Mister Saturday Night continued to gain momentum, and labels like L.I.E.S., Future Times, Lobster Theremin, and The Trilogy Tapes releasing alternative/experimental house stole the hearts of keen listeners. The spread of house was also apparent in the EDM scene where “Future House”, the hybrid of deep house and EDM, swept across the scene. Also, the wave of house was seen in the beat music scene. To conclude the year of the global return of house music, HOUSE OF LIQUID proudly welcomes DJ Haus, the maverick of the UK house scene.

DJ Haus started off as a member of duo Hot City in which he produced sophisticated sounds descending from cut-up disco and 2step/UK Garage. In 2012, he started his own label Unknown to the Unknown (UTTU) and started going by his current alias DJ Haus. His music rapidly became rougher, tougher, and rawer, reminiscent of the sounds of early house music. In 2013, he started his second label Hot Haus Rec., releasing quality tracks in a fast pace. Those two labels are now known for releasing tracks from many unique artists including Willie Burns (who has also had releases from L.I.E.S.), MAX D, the founder of label Future Times, and Tuff Sherm, a one-of-a-kind electronic music master from Australia who is also known as Dro Carey. Although his main style is house, his productions, connections, and interests go beyond house. He is close with top grime producers Mumdance and Slackk, and he has formed “Trumpet & Badman”, a duo with UK Garage legend DJ Q. Haus also has solo releases from various labels including renowned UK label Rinse, leading Dutch underground label Clone. You can easily recognize a DJ Haus track by its impulsive grooves rooting from Chicago House coated with a UK Bass Music vibe. With his signature cutting edge sound, DJ Haus is making his Tokyo debut at HOUSE OF LIQUID, one of the longest running parties in the Tokyo club scene. It will be a night filled with the diversity and the pure joy of today’s house music. A night all house music lovers wouldn’t want to miss.

The Japanese DJs that were chosen to play along with DJ Haus on this night are Soichi Terada, DJ TASAKA, Gonbuto, and MOODMAN. Soichi Terada is a pioneer of the Japanese house music scene. His recent album “Sounds From the Far East” pleased the ears of house music lovers from all over the world with his original Japanese house sounds. DJ TASAKA who released his new album “UpRight” from his newly established label “UpRight Rec.” is another essential player in the Tokyo scene who never fails to satisfy the crowd with his funky and dynamic DJ style. Gonbuto brings a fresh and unique alternativeness to the line-up. With his out-of-the-ordinary background, his DJ style is always unpredictable. Last but not least, MOODMAN, Mr.HOUSE OF LIQUID, the resident DJ of this long running party is a promised crowd pleaser. The party will be supported by two of Tokyo’s best VJs, Pootee and Daisuke Ukishita. Pootee, a visual arts wizard who independently designs and releases T-shirts and socks, is also a member of VJ crew Bacon that is known to VJ at parties held by C.E., the brand of legendary designer sk8thing. Daisuke Ukishita is the owner of artist group 20TN! that continues to deliver quality videos, graphics, and music to the Tokyo underground scene. House music will definitely take over the dance music scene in 2016. It will be the right move for all music fans to witness the momentum of house music at HOUSE OF LIQUID. Faux-Teutonic DJ, the DJ Haus aka Bossman of hyped underground label Unknown to the Unknown has been laying foundations for his unique take on house music via his regular show on Rinse FM. Soichi Terada has long been a bastion of charming deep house in the Far East. A recent showcase of his work by Hunee on the Rush Hour label, though, has turned a western audience on to his pleasingly naive yet emotionally resonant sound, and as such he is now heading over with a full live show. Over the course of a long career that dates back to the ‘80s, Terada has been responsible for the soundtracks of computer games like Ape Escape, as well as for countless great releases on his Far East Recordings label alongside good friend Shinichiro Yokota.

Rather than just copying historical house greats, Terada has continually cooked up his own unique sounds that come laden with lush pianos and rich with diva vocals that really make them stand out. Ranging from cute and bouncy to chilled out and deep via jazzy and soulful, he has a broad sound palette that is full of humour and real character. Tracks like Larry Levan backed ”Sun Shower,” which he produced in 1989 for the Japanese singer Nami Shimada, are full of magical melodies and proper arrangements and never fail to connect with dancers and DJs alike. His live show will re-create these classic old tracks as well as those from the Rush Hour compilation in spectacular fashion.

DJ Tasaka has been leading the ever evolving Tokyo House/Techno scene for over a decade now. Born in Tokyo in 1974, Tasaka’s musical endeavor started when he discovered hip hop and bought himself a DJ mixer and a pair of turntables in his early teens. After he turned 18, he started playing in clubs, and around the same time he discovered and was heavily influenced by techno music. In 2001, he released his highly acclaimed mix CD “LOOPA MIX mixed by DJ TASAKA”. In the same year, he was chosen to play at “MAYDAY”, a massive indoor rave in Germany. In 2002, he released his first album “PASSPORT FOR DISCO” that was well received all across the world. After the album, he has produced for many artists and remixed a countless number of tracks. In 2005, Tasaka took his art to the next level with album “GO DJ”. It was a live mix CD of all original DJ Tasaka tracks; just what the scene was waiting for. In 2006, Tasaka teamed up with rap group アルファ(Alpha) and released the album “ホットカプセル”(Hot Capsule) as “アルファ(Alpha)＆DJ TASAKA”. Also in 2006, he got together with the late KAGAMI, who was another hotshot in the Tokyo scene, called themselves “DISCO TWINS” and released the wittingly titled album “TWINS DISCO”. After the collaboration phase, DJ Tasaka went back into his studio solo, and in July 2009, graced the world with his highly anticipated solo album “Soul Clap”. His live sets at WIRE10, SUMMER SONIC, RISING SUN ROCK FESTIVAL, and many more drove the crowd absolutely crazy. In 2010, European edition of “Soul Clap” was released from Muller Records in Germany further pushing the sounds of DJ Tasaka to the world. In 2011, Tasaka collaborated with nicone and released “Omikoshi” under alias “NICONE/TAZAKA” from German label KICKBOXER. He also released an EP from German label monsterbox in 2012. In 2013, Tasaka released 2 EPs from BASSWORKS RECORDINGS the label his longtime friend SUGIURUMN started. In July 2015, Tasaka released his brand new album “UpRight” from his newly launched label ”UpRight Rec.”. As the leading figure in the Tokyo club scene, DJ Tasaka continues to push the boundaries and shows no sign of slowing down.

As the covert key player in Japan’s internet music scene, Gonbuto is a man known to those who know. With his cynical and obscure point of view and deep knowledge in music, he has gained trust from many stakeholders in Japan’s internet music youth culture. He also holds a unique roll as the agitator for Maltine Records, the internet music powerhouse and the pioneer of the “net label” movement. Gonbuto started DJing in 2009 as DJ少年院（literally meaning “DJ Juvenile Detention Center”）, and later on switched his alias to “Gonbuto”, what he goes by on the internet. Gonbuto has a wide range of musical interests including Amen, Acid, Disco, House, Techno, Jungle, Gabba, and Hardcore just to name a few.

80年代末に活動開始。高橋透、宇川直宏とタッグを組んだGODFATHER、HOUSE OF LIQUID、SLOWMOTION等のレジデントパーティーの他、TAICOCLUB、Freedommune、Raw Lifeなど、インディペンデントな屋外フェスへ多数出演。記念すべき第一回のDJを担当した〈Dommune〉では、自身の番組Moodommuneを不定期で放送している。2013年、約6年ぶりにオフィシャルミックスCD『SF mixed by MOODMAN』を発表した。

Starting his DJ career in the 80s, Moodman has crafted his career through parties like GODFATHER which he created with legendary Tohru Takahashi and Naohiro Ukawa, HOUSE OF LIQUID, and SLOWMOTION. He has also performed highly acclaimed sets in many independent music festivals including TAICOCLUB, Freedommune, Raw Life to name a few. In 2010, he was chosen to be the very first DJ to play in internationally recognized internet broadcast station “Dommune”. He now hosts his own program “Moodommune” on Dommune irregularly. In 2013, Moodman released “SF mixed by MOODMAN”, his first official mix CD in 6 years.

東京を拠点に活動するProducer/DJ。
HipHopを中心にBlack musicを聴き漁った幼少期を経て、高校時代にMPC1000を購入。トラックメイクを始める。さらに卒業と同時にクラブでのDJ活動も開始。DJとしてはBass musicのフィールドでの出演が主だが、ジャンルを限定せず「温故知新」を常に掲げた真摯なプレイスタイルは各方面から高い信頼を得ている。正式な作品集は、自身も運営の一員である音楽レーベル『TREKKIE TRAX』からリリースした「Monolith EP」のみと少ないものの、Finlandの老舗レーベル『Top Billin』のコンピレーションへの参加や、Part2Style、80KIDZ、Nature Danger Gang、Carpainterなど国内アーティストへのRemix提供も精力的に行っている。またその楽曲は、DubstepやJukeの世界的な認知に深く貢献したUKのレーベル『Hyperdub』のラジオショーや、英国の国営放送局『BBC Radio1』でもプレイされる等、国外での評価も着実に獲得している。2013年末には活動をラジオパーソナリティにまで広げ、日本最大のダンスミュージック専門インターネットラジオ局『Block.fm』にてTREKKIE TRAXのSeimei＆Taimeiと共に番組『Rewind!!!』をスタート。現在は『TREKKIE TRAX CREW SET』のコアメンバーとして日本各地へツアーをする中、ソロとしても『ULTRA JAPAN Fes 2015』といったビッグフェスへの出演を果たすなど、常にパーティの第一線で活躍している。

横浜在住のTaimei Kawaiによるソロプロジェクト。UK Garage/2step/HouseをFUTUREという感覚で解釈した楽曲は国内外問わず高い評価を得ておりこれまで自身の主宰するレーベル「TREKKIE TRAX」や「Maltine Records」よりEPをデジタルリリース。また2015年には自身のレーベルよりレコード形態でのEPや1st CDアルバムをリリースするなど、積極的な制作活動を行っている。それだけでなく「tofubeats」「東京女子流」やカプコンの「モンスターハンター」「ストリートファイター」のコンピレーションアルバムにRemixを提供するほか、人気マンガ家「浅野いにお」がキャラクターデザインを務めた映像作品「WHITE FANTASY」では全編において楽曲を提供した。その勢いは国内だけにとどまらず、フィンランドの老舗レーベル「Topbillin」やイギリスの名門レーベル「L2S Recordings」などからもリリースを行ない、イギリスの国営ラジオ局「BBC Radio1」や「Rinse.fm」「Sub FM」でも楽曲が日夜プレイされている。また、ｍ-floの☆Taku Takahashiが主宰する日本最大のダンスミュージック専門インターネットラジオ局「Block.fm」では、レーベルメイトとUK Bass Musicを中心としたプログラム「REWIND!!!」のパーソナリティも担当しているなど幅広く活動している。
